COSTA RICA 2006/2007

Day 13: Friday January 5 2006

Today is the day. Leaving Costa Rica and flying home to the Netherlands. The alarm clock is set for the first time and it's beeping very early. We fly at 9am so we have to be there at 7. First a little breakfast of rice, beans, ham, cheese and fresh orange juice. All included. Fortunately we are already in Alajuela so we don't have to drive a long way. The owner takes us with his car. For free.

There's a line that ends OUTSIDE the airport! I think it's the line for departure-tax, but Timo notices that it's not. There's no line for taxes. Watch out: everyone leaving Costa Rica needs to pay $ 26 tax. And at the luggage-check in, there is a line also. And especially for us, it's also right till outside.
What a bad flight! There's turbulence all of the time and even Timo is not feeling well this time. Cold sweat, nauseous, dizzy even. It was dreadful. In Atlanta the weather was so bad that we had to fly around for 20 minutes before we could land.

Oh well, a little delay isn't so bad for us, because in Atlanta we have a stopover of at least 4 hours. The 'charge-to-go-machine' didn't charge, but it took our money even so! $2 too bad.
Ten I'll read my book. It's a good book:
Michael Robotham 'Drowning man'. sequel to 'The suspect'

Day 14: Saturday January 6 2006
This nightflight to the Netherlands wasn't that bad. It feels less long than the last time. But still; I'm very tired: it's somewhat over 8am and we have barely had any sleep.

The Dutch Traincompany NS gives us a ride home and there awaits the best getting home series: Emptying the mailbox, computers on, reading all the news we missed, doing laundry, taking a hot shower, calling family to let them know we're back, and there aren't any bugs in this appartement!

The next holiday will probably be a sunny place again, but we've seen enough of Costa Rica for now. Maybe Kenia, Brazil, Madagaskar...?

I've got a
guestbook! I'ts mostly in Dutch but I would really like it if you have the chance to leave a message if you have read this story with interest, or if you have had any good use of my tips. Thank you!
